MK Hauser is a London based multidisciplinary artist and musician. His work
includes painting, installation and video. He also gained prominence as the
creative force behind the avant-garde rock group Agaskodo Teliverek who were
lauded by the late John Peel. For the last decade he has also worked as PA and
painting assistant for Bridget Riley. Hauser is showing work from ‘Nothing Is As
It Seems’, a series of large-scale oil paintings of cats, which elaborate the
dichotomy of the wild and the domesticated. The series was made of a composite
of images found online. Several cats were merged into one while examining
the cliches and kitsch mannerisms of cat photography.
Paul Sakoilsky is a London based painter, writer, performance artist and editor of
The Dark Times. His work is internationally exhibited, published and collected.
He is perhaps best known for ‘The Dark Times’ project and ‘Kunst Clown’
performance series. During a residency in 2012 in Napoli with Fondazine
Morra, he switched to oils and painting in the main from life. He is showing ‘a
menagerie’ of paintings and prints, in keeping with the thematic, of ‘my family,
friends and other animals.’ These include new oil life studies, as well as earlier
works including from ‘The Dark Times: Portrait’ series, ‘Kunst Clown’
prints, and a series of individual mono print drawings based on the ‘LOVE’
series of oils, exhibited at his solo show with Herrick Gallery, London 2013.
The common thread running through this menagerie being the figure, whether
human or animal.
