Celebrating London based musicians Martha Cowan and Shaefri

June 14 @ 7:00 pm - 1:00 am

Martha Cowan is an 18 year old Indie-Folk singer songwriter from North London. She’s recently just finished her studies at The BRIT school and is off to study song writing in September. Her debut EP ‘Oblivion’ came out in February of this year, followed by a Live release of this record exploring field recording and acoustic ecology. Martha grew up listening to the likes of Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills & Nash and Laura Marling.

Her new EP ‘Oblivion’ can be streamed here.

Shaefri is an Irish-Egyptian artist, musician and songwriter, raised between London and Co. Mayo, Ireland. Her distinctive heritage forms the beating heart of every one of her songs. Arabic beats meet harmonies that hark back to summers spent in Mayo and family sing-alongs and in her hypnotic vocals, Shaefri’s contrasting sides collide. Her latest EP, ‘Girl’ received immense support from BBC Introducing, Spotify (NMF UK, New Pop UK, Fresh Finds: Pop, A Breath of Fresh Eire & more), Apple Music (NMD) UK, Irish and US press (Sunday Times Culture, Clash, The Line of Best Fit, DIY, Earmilk, Billboard, Hot Press & more) and Irish Radio stations (RTE 2FM, Cork 96FM, RTE 1FM, Newstalk (Hot Press new music segment), Dublin City FM, WRLFM & more).

Following the success of her ‘Girl EP’ she signed with Warners’ boutique publisher, ‘W Songs’ and has secured syncs on shows across ITV (inc. Love Island), Channel 4, Amazon Prime and ABC, amongst others, and worked with brands such as Sephora and Estrid. She was selected to perform at Ireland Music Weeks’ three day festival as one of their 50 emerging artists, alongside CMAT.
