Warped Domesticity curated by Eldi Dundee
20 April 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 13 May 2023 @ 10:00 pm
FreeThe Stash Gallery presents
Warped Domesticity: A three-hander exhibition of sculpture and textiles, with Poppy ‘Concrete’ Whatmore (whose work ‘Catalyst’ graces our flyer), and fellow member of the Royal Society of Sculptors, Barbara ‘Stoneware’ Beyer, both providing the show with a plethora of museum quality sculptures. Eldi ‘Art Rug’ Dundee provides the textiles of the show via her big, densely packed, hand-tufted, abstract/psychedelic pure wool rug hangings; she’s also curating the show.
These three artists are linked by a tendency towards process-led, materially focussed making practices, and works arrived at often by creating conditions whereby intentional experimental accidents can happen. Pattern, repetition, stream of consciousness, and/or lateral, out of the box thinking also feature. Their works, as disparate and varied as they may be, seem to straddle the divide between narrative and conceptual, abstract and figurative.
Artist bios, statements, and a digital catalogue of works with accompanying texts will be viewable online once the show goes up, at eldidundee.co.uk/Warped-Domesticity/
